If there’s one beauty rule that we should never break, it’s washing your face before you sleep. But let’s admit it: Taking off every speck of makeup on our face isn’t exactly the most glamorous task. In fact, it’s the last thing we’d want to do after a long, hard day—especially when you’re wearing budge-proof and waterproof products.
So when we learned of a “magical” cleansing cloth that claims to remove even the most stubborn makeup with just water, we got super intrigued. Aptly called The Original Makeup Eraser, this beauty tool looks like a simple (and cute!) washcloth, but clearly, it’s more than just that.
To test it out, we invited beauty girl Kiana Valenciano (who, by the way, recently launched her Killa K kit with BYS) to use the cloth on cam to see how it fares in removing all her makeup—after a beauty shoot, too. Check it out:
The verdict: To say that we (and Kiana!) were impressed would be an understatement!
Once dampened with warm water, The Original MakeUp Eraser does an amazing job of removing all traces of makeup, even waterproof eyeliner, from your face. No need to rub hard too; the ultra-soft polyester blend cloth features special fibers that gently break the surface tension of the oils that bond makeup to the skin, allowing even the most budge-proof products to slide off easily. It’s unbelievable.
That’s not even the best part. This chemical-free washcloth is totally reusable, and can last for up to 1,000 uses. Depending on how often you wear makeup, that’s roughly three years of foregoing disposable cotton pads and all those expensive chemical makeup removers. (Perfect for travel!)
Some pro tips:
Warm water is best. While regular tap water works, lukewarm water helps break down the makeup faster for easier cleansing.
Follow this two-step guide. As a first step, use the side with the shorter fibers for removing your makeup, then switch to the other side of the cloth as a finishing touch. The longer fibers on the latter are designed to gently exfoliate.
Don’t be heavy-handed. Though safe for sensitive skin, it’s always better to be slow and gentle when wiping off makeup to avoid unnecessary friction.
Wash after each use. The cloth is hand- and machine-washable, and is meant to be hung dry. Make sure to follow the care instructions on the tag so it lasts you a really long time.
